Valentine's Day Inspired Makeup
Valentine's Day is only a few hours away and I decided to try and create a makeup look for the occasion the day before. Totally have this blogging thing under control, right? I had to take advantage of this rare sunlight that's lighting up my kitchen for some good photo taking.
Are you guys doing anything for Valentine's Day? Hubby and I will be up to our 12th Valentine's Day together. Man, I feel old! We are heading up to a place called York on the weekend to do some touristy stuff as since haven't really explored much of our new backyard. Getting excited for that!
Now on to the makeup! I tried and failed on the weekend creating a look using pink eyeshadow. I looked a bit crazy-eyed and it was kind of funny. I hope this one looks a bit better!
- BASE -
I try and I try to use these products everyday and yet they are just not finishing! I used MAC Fix+ before, during and after the makeup application to keep the face more fresh looking and youthful. I used my favourite primer, MAX FACTOR Facefinity primer underneath BOURJOIS Healthy Mix Serum (53 Light Beige) which gives a slightly radiant finish to the skin. I usually use 2-3 pumps depending on the coverage I'm after and I feel my skin still looks like skin. The under eye area and some blemishes were covered with MAYBELLINE Fit Me! concealer (20 Sand). I also went over my eyelids with it. I lightly dusted over the concealer with AUSTRALIS Fresh & Flawless powder (Natural) to set it but left the rest of my face as is (which is not what I would normally do!).
- FACE COLOUR -
I did a bit of light sculpting under my cheekbones, nose and temples with the lightest contour shade from the DESIGNER BRANDS Pro Contour palette. I still really dig this palette from this affordable Australian brand. On my cheeks, I swept a mix of CR030 and CR040 from ZOEVA Coral Spectrum blush palette (the top two shades in the photo). To add lots of glow to the cheeks and cheekbones, I used a mix of Mary-Lou Manizer and Cindy-Lou Manizer from THE BALM. The glow is a lovely sheen and not glittery.
- EYES -
I'm dreading writing up this part as I was experimenting with a lot of the eyeshadows and trying to erase the mistakes >.< Urgh, I think I'll just list how I did it below!
Brows - CHI CHI Brow Pomade (Medium Brown) - went a bit too dramatic on the brows oops
Primer - TOO FACED Shadow Insurance then set with a light eyeshadow
Crease - TARTE Tarlette in BLOOM (TiB) in Flower Child
Outer corner & a little in crease - TiB in Sweetheart
Mobile lid - TOO FACED Chocolate Bar (CB) in Strawberry Bon Bon and MAKEUP REVOLUTION (MUR) Acid Brights in bright pink to help Strawberry Bon Bon pop a little more on my skin tone
Lower lash line - TiB in Leader lightly and buffed out and MUR in bright berry smudged underneath.
Inner corner - TiB in Funny Girl. I love this shade from this palette! I tried a bit of Marzipan from CB first, but it didn't show up as nicely.
Waterline - BARRY M Waterproof Eyeliner in Bold Black then smudge it with the berry eyeshadow on the outer lash line
Liner - MAYBELLINE Master Ink Matte in Charcoal Black. I had a bad liner day today. Then filled in the gaps between the lashes with the Barry M pencil.
Mascara - MAX FACTOR 2000 Calorie waterproof in Rich Black. No falsies 'cos I cannot be bothered lol. But I did curl my lashes with the SHISEIDO eyelash curler.
- LIPS -
I lined and filled in with my favourite lip colour of all time, ULTA3 lipliner in Dusk. I love it so much! But I thought I should be a little varied (not really) so I added CHARLOTTE TILBURY Matte Revolution lipstick in Amazing Grace on top of the liner. It kind of made Amazing Grace look a bit warmer on my lips which was nice. And who doesn't like a matte lip still?
- FINAL LOOK -
Ah, glasses hide everything! I like the little pop of berry pink under the eyes. It's a little bit of fun without taking things too much outside my comfort zone of the 'neutral eye'. My eyeshadow blending doesn't look very good in the photos but I swear it looks better in real life! If you can imagine that pink circling my whole eye, that's what I looked like after trying the use the colour on the weekend!
Hmmm... thanks Moose.
I hope you are having an awesome start of the week!!! And that you share and feel loved on Valentine's Day. I think hubby and I will share in a romantic meal from Waitrose lol (grocery store chain).
