Ready For Race Day

Hello there lovelies! Today is Melbourne Cup day which is termed 'The race that stops a nation". I was on my way home in the car listening to the big horse race. I'm not really into horse racing... or any sports for that matter, however, I do love to dress up when the time calls. Once again, work was having a special Melbourne Cup lunch and we were invited to wear our best outfits and hats.

I found my funky number from The Iconic (website) after seeing a post Sarah did on her blog last week which featured another piece from the store. I've being looking for the dress to wear for this day for many weeks and haven't been successful. The Iconic is an Australian online store which offers the latest in clothing, footwear and accessories. I was just having a sticky-beak one night when I found this midi length black and white striped dress with a colourful floral arrangement throughout (link).

My fascinator hair piece was purchased at a little store in the middle of Wollongong Central. They had many affordable ones to choose from (I'm always thinking about what's the best deal for these kinds of purchases) and I went with the purple one thinking it'll go with my dress. When I got home to my dress, I realised there weren't any purple on it! Hahaha! At least it'll go with my hair.

Another hair challenge for me this morning. Another Pinterest fail! XD I could not get my twirls to be nice and full like in the picture. I even curled my hair! I didn't realise how to the side it was until I took the photos this afternoon. Even so, I like how it turned out and it stayed up all day. Oh, and I changed my hair colour, I will do an updated hair post soon!
