FotD & NotD | Easter Weekend
Happy Easter everyone! I hope you are having a lovely weekend where you are. I visited my parents yesterday since I haven't seen them since January and to drop off some Easter goodies for my nieces and nephew. My parents are off to China tomorrow to visit relatives and have a little holiday in Shanghai. Lucky ducks! Tomorrow, off to visit the in-laws to celebrate papa's birthday. I've baked him a cake that's currently in the oven. Hopefully it turns out!! I will share the recipe with you if it tastes alright! Anyways, I thought I should liven my blog up again with a makeup look a created today. It's something a little different to what I usually do so hope you like it!
I tried to emulate the fun colours that the Easter spirit brings about (even if it is through the chocolates, bunnies and chickens). I don't have a lot of brightly coloured eyeshadows in my collection, actually I only have the two palettes which I used today. The main one is the NYX 10 Color Eyeshadow Palette in Strike A Pose. I think I bought this in Melbourne many... many years ago. I only reach for it when I need to add some shimmery colour to my lids. The other palette I have is the Sleek i-Divine Eyeshadow Palette in Ultra Matts V2. It has about half neutrals and half other colours.
For the eyes, I started with Milani Eyeshadow Base and dusted some skin tone shadow over the top to help reduce the tackiness. Then I patted NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Cottage Cheese (didn't get Milk back in the day) on the mobile lid and just a little above the 'crease' area. Time for the coloured shadows! From the NYX palette, I started with the green shade on the inner portion of my lids but not above the crease, then I added the mahogany shade on the outer section and slight overlapping the green shadow. Finally, I lightly blended the purple shade above the previous two shades so it peeks out when my eyes are open. The shadows work well with a white base as they will appear brighter but they can be quite dusty in the palette. I used one shade from the Sleek palette which was Highness, the purple shade, just to blend the very outer edges of the shimmers together. I also used a combination of the above shades on my lower lash line.
The rest of my eye products include: Maybelline Hyper Sharp Liner, Max Factor Masterpiece wp mascara, Poni Cosmetics Brow Magic and Maybelline Brow Drama in transparent.
What's on the rest of my face:
Primers: Mecca Lit from Within (all over), Benefit Porefessional (nose and surrounds) and Max Factor Facefinity (all over)
Foundations: Equal amounts of Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream (light/medium) and Rimmel Match Perfection (light nude, old formula)
Concealer: Napoleon Perdis Pro Concealer Palette
Powder: Illamasqua Loose Powder (LP 010)
Contour: Designer Brands Pro Contour Palette
Blush: Benefit Dandelion
Highlight: Napoleon Perdis Great Hits Cheek Palette (pinky highlight)
Lips: Innoxa Super Smooth Lip Liner (mocha rush) and Too Faced Melted Lipstick (melted nude)
I also haven't done some nail art in a long time so I flicked through Pinterest for some inspiration. For the bunny, I used Essence The Gel nail polish in Wild White Ways as a base, then used toothpicks dipped in OPI If You Moust You Moust and Manicare Paint It Black. I used a dotting tool for the paw prints on my thumb nail. For the remaining nails, I did a light base of the OPI shade and then layered on many coats of Face of Australia Glitterati in Heart of Glass. It got pretty thick haha.
How are you spending your Easter?
Moose is living such a hard life!
