Rimmel Super Gel Kit | Review
Hi lovelies! I hope you have been well! I've read posts about the Rimmel Super Gel polishes a couple of months ago and now it's my turn! I haven't tried too many 'gel like' polishes so I wasn't sure what to expect, although I did have high hopes. I had shellac polish during my wedding and I loved the slight thickness of the polish and it's longevity. Let's see if this set does what it claims!
Rimmel claims that Super Gel needs 2 coats for salon quality nails, it will last for up to 14 days, it is quick to apply and remove, and needs no UV lamp to cure the polish. Super Gel is a two step system where you apply the coloured coat then the top coat which activates the curing process. It it available in 15 shades in Australia, ranging from neutrals to reds with some blues thrown in.
The packaging is comparable to the other Rimmel polishes, only slightly larger in size. The wide brush makes it easy for a quick polish application. The shade I bought, Rock n' Roll, has a workable consistency which is neither thick or thin, opacity was achieved with two thin coats.
Here are my thoughts:
- Application was super easy and quick
- The finish was glossy and not too thick. Actually, it felt like a regular polish on my nails which was not what I was wanting from a gel-like polish
- I'm not use to the top as I normally put on Essie Good to Go which is a quick dry top coat. I found myself waiting for my nails to dry for ages
- It's good that I don't have to expose my hands to more UV radiation
- The first time I wore this polish, I noticed chipping within 3 days
- The second time, I included a base coat, I got about 10 days wear. The nail tips had signs of wear and tiny cracks in the polish appeared from about day 5 (although I can't remember if I used their top coat or the Essie one)
This is a nice nail polish but it doesn't live up the gel-like features it claims to have like gel colour and shine. I probably won't be purchasing any more from this range but I was happy I tried it anyway. You can pick up Rimmel's Super Gel from Priceline, Big W, Coles, Woolworths, Chemist Warehouse and Target. They come as individual polishes for $9.95 and in duo packs with the top coat for $14.95.
Have you tried gel-like polishes or do you stick with the true stuff?
