Here We Go To Bendigo

As mentioned in my previous post, hubby and I ventured to Bendigo on the weekend. It was a gathering with the in-law's side of the family which was kind of a central location for everyone to meet up. It was my first visit to Bendigo - a beautiful town about 8 hours from our place in NSW to this Victorian town. Unfortunately, we didn't get to spend that much time there as we arrived late Friday afternoon and left Sunday morning.
So many sheep farms surrounding Bendigo. I got so excited when I saw little lambies with their mothers. They were so cute! I noticed that a lot of the mums had two lambs each but not always.

Laanecoorie Hall - the location for the family gathering. So much history in this area. This was about half an hour from Bendigo. Such a tiny town that even the corner store has closed down. The river nearby is still a popular place for campers.

Dinner at Imperial Palace Chinese/Malaysian Restaurant - wow! It was soooo yummy here. We had fried rice, honey chicken and Cantonese noodles (rice noodles with combination meats and an eggy sauce). Delish!

Sacred Heart Cathedral. Quite eerie yet majestic at night.

The first thing I asked when we got into Bendigo was why was there a giant Marilyn Monroe statue in the middle of town. No one knew until we got pamphlet from the local fish n' chips place advertising an exhibition on her. I wish we had time to see this! Apparently, the town was experiencing an influx of visitors that weekend (and why many places were booked out for dinner!)

Memorial in Holbrook, NSW.

Giant submarine in Holbrook.

Tesla was petrified in the place where he was staying for the weekend. He doesn't do well with strangers and new places. I let him sit on my lap on the way home and loved looking through the window until it got dark and he fell asleep.

Have you been to Bendigo before?
