Kat's Cambridge Catch Up #6
Can you believe I've been in the UK for 6 months and I feel that time has flown by! I remember that sad feeling I got the night hubby told me he wanted to work in Cambridge about two years ago. I'm pretty sure I cried. I'm not one for change and being away from the people and things I know and am use to. And now looking back at these past six months, I've enjoyed my time here so much and I love all the great people I've become friends with!
April felt like a short month as we had two weeks off for the Easter school holidays and then nine days of work for the rest of the month!
- Travel -
The first weekend was spent down in London on the River Thames to watch the annual Cambridge-Oxford boat race. It was a gorgeous warm sunny day to be out on the banks. I wrote a blog post here that you can read about!
The next weekend, The Doc and Miss K, took hubby and I to visit a few towns in Norfolk. The first stop was Holt which was a cute little town. It would be a nice place to retire to by the looks of it. We were super hungry so had lunch at a place called Horatio's. They did an amazing full English breakfast - sausages, hash brown, baked beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, black pudding and toast! Mmmmm.
Then we went to the seaside town of Well-next-the-sea. A popular tourist destination. We had a nice walk along the beach and went into town. We then caught the little train back to the carpark which was quite a walk away from the main part of town.
Our final stop was Hunstanton. Another seaside town but on the other side of the Norfolk coast. Miss K wanted to visit the big arcade there use up our spare pennies. It was full of lights, sounds and kids running around. Unfortunately, no prizes were won.
- Food -
I'm such an embarrassment when I'm out eating as I almost always taking not very good photos of the food. Hahaha. Oh well.

- Circus -
The first week of the school holidays brought some gorgeous sunny weather to Cambridge and most days were spent outside lapping up the rays. I had my first proper go at partner acro with Circus Will teaching me. There were many falls and laughs yet I think we managed to achieve a bunch of poses and moves by the end of the week! I'm still petrified standing on shoulders! (Thanks Tom for the awesome photos!)
I've been busy rehearsing my routine for the upcoming CCC show which will be in a couple of weeks. I've changed my song once and now back again to my original choice! I'm torn between two costumes (but I think I have a good idea of which one to go with). I've been taking lots of critiques and suggestions from my circus teachers and friends which has helped in refining my routine. Now, I just need to improve my stamina and make it look great!
Also, back to a bit of straps training pt II! It's hurting less then the first time I tried it but it's still so challenging! There's a great bunch of ladies that I'm training with so it makes it quite enjoyable as we bare through the pain!
Circus Wonderland came to town in the school holidays and I went to see them with hubby and Circus Will. They had jugglers, acrobatics troupe, BMX tricks, cyr wheel, silks and trapeze. I quite enjoyed the clown duo. Unfortunately, one little boy didn't quite have a good time when he was selected to join the fun and games on stage. Poor thing.
I've also started a new series on my blog called Circus Life (can be found on the top tab)! Basically snippets of moves that I've learnt on various apparatus, mainly the static trapeze, but also silks and straps and some partner acro. I hope you will like them! Here's the first post! Hubby has been helping me with some cool photoshop on some of the photos. Now, I have another excuse to get more photos taken of me at circus! Haha!
