Favourites | August 2014
Hi everyone! I've been itching to get back into blogging. However, I some set backs with moving house, unpacking, losing the connection cord for the camera.... you know how it is. Anyways, I still can't find the cord, probably buried somewhere in a packing box still but I managed to transfer these photos to my phone and then upload them to my laptop. What a hassle! Half my beauty products are still at mum's place so I haven't branched out in terms of skincare and my makeup drawers are stuck at the back of the second bedroom with boxes in front of it! So I've just been using products out of my little travel bag. Here are my most used in August (and probably July too).
I took Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundation on holidays with me last month and I fell in love with it all over again and I used it most of August. I have so many new foundations to try but I just love how this foundation blends, covers and finishes on the skin. Another product I took with me was the Napoleon Perdis Ultimate Contour Palette. Talk about ease and convenience! It contains a nice matte contouring shade, a pinky-mauve blush and a finely shimmery highlighter. I just use my Real Techniques Blush brush with this. I picked up the Urban Decay Naked 3 eyeshadow palette when I was in London. I wasn't totally a fan at first because I was soooooooooooo sick overseas and these shades didn't help my cause. But now that I'm healthier, I've been loving this combo - trick (lid), nooner (crease), factory (outer corner) and blackheart (lashline). I also love using the fluffy side of the double ended brush that's included in the palette.
My morning and night routine is not complete without applying the muchly raved about Nuxe Ultra Nurishing lip balm. I had to snap this up in Paris during my Euro-trip. It has a pleasant fragrance and a smooth texture on the lips. I found that when I sick and dehydrated, this didn't really help my super chapped lips and I had to go back to my trusty Carmex in the pot (which is now is my bag instead).
I just realised my Real Techniques Expert Face brush is clean! Phew! This has been my go to brush for my foundations and other bases. It is very soft yet dense enough to give a nice blend with minimal effort. It like how the brush head is domed and pinched in at the handle as it makes blending around the nose and under the eyes easier. A surprise inclusion to my most used is the bareMinerals 5 in 1 BB Advanced Performance cream eyeshadow which I received in London from the sales assistant who helped my friend, Bec, with foundation. So nice of him! This product blends almost to a powder-like finish and matches my skin colour perfectly. I use this instead of concealer to even out the skin tone on my lids and as a base for my powder eyeshadows.
My only splurge on makeup during my overseas trip was this YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in 06 Pink in Devotion. I knew I had to conform and get me one of these lovelies! And it didn't disappoint. The formula is so smooth and the colour is buildable yet bright but opaque which makes it even more wearable for everyday. And that packaging is simply gorgeous!
Finally, a non-beauty favourite. The rings below are mine and hubby's wedding bands. Not your typical style you might say. In my wedding accessories post, I mentioned that I had stand-in rings as our actual rings hadn't arrived yet. Long story short, they arrived in Australia a day before I was set to leave and they got stuck in customs. Then customs got my parcel mixed up with someone else's and then we had to pay to get it released. Unfortunately, I was already on the plane and travelling so I couldn't take them with me. We ordered these rings from Jewelry by Johan, an American based company who deals with hand made rings. Both our rings include a dinosaur fossil and a Gibeon meteorite. The reason why we chose these particular rings is that we both love anything to do with science and nerdy things. And they are very unique. Looooooove them!!!!
Here's a FotD using the makeup products mentioned above!
That's all I have for you tonight! I hope to get back into posting especially about the wedding and our honeymoon/Europe holiday! Until next time!
xxx Kat

Great favourites! Your wedding bands are so unique, and it's so cute that you guys chose them because of your interests! Those shades in the Naked 3 are my faves too :)
