Kat's Cambridge Catch Up #1

Hiya!

It seems to be the saying around here. People get surprised when I greet them with "Hi, how ya goin'?". I must apologise for my absence on the blog over the last few months. I got into a rut and lost some inspiration and willpower to maintain it. I didn't feel like myself. I did have a few things on my mind then though, like trying to finalise the big move, dance competitions and handing over my job at work!

If you didn't know, and most of you probably don't, I have moved to the UK! The lovely town of Cambridge to be exact. My hubby got a job at the university and we made plans for the move once his PhD was submitted. Just over two weeks ago, we landed in London with our two suitcases to start our new life in a new country! Here is a snippet of what I've been up to!

Sept 14 - Moose and Tesla in their carriers waiting for Jetpets to take them to the airport. We will pick them up in London on Friday. I was so sad to see them leave!
Sept 15 - We landed in London the night before and took the shuttle to our hotel. We woke up to a rainy morning and a huge traffic incident on a major highway which delayed our friend who was going to pick us up. We took a taxi to meet him halfway and he took us into Cambridge. We met our lovely landlady to get the keys before getting our hire car for the day to do some house shopping.
Sept 16 - Breakfast at Patisserie Valerie before dropping the car off.
My beautiful furbabies were happy to be out of their carriers and off the plane. They have settled in quite well in their new home.
Parker's Piece - still trying to find my way around and remembering the names of the surrounding 'parks'.
Cambridge Train Station - one of the few trips we made to Newmarket, a town outside of Cambridge where there's a train once an hour. Had to go there to try and set up a bank account but with no luck. (Good news! We finally got one set up yesterday! We arrived at a busy time of year with uni students wanting to do the same thing as us)
Many streets in Cambridge look like this! Our place looks like this too!
HK Fusion - is now one of my fave places to go for Chinese food. Our eyes were bigger than our bellies on this night... XD Although the congee is never as good as my mums!
King's College - one of the many colleges in Cambridge. The colleges are where the uni students stay during their studies.
Sept 24 - E. coli installation - at the New Scientist Live expo at London's ExCel. We went to an amazing talk by Richard Wiseman, magician/psychologist (check out his Youtube channel), saw some great ideas and products from leading science companies and schools and has some fun hands on experience.
Midsummer Common - cows and a rainbow!
Along the River Cam.
I have also started my new job this week, lab assisting across two schools. I'm enjoying it so far! I'm still trying to learn all their coins but happy to see their 5 pound note is plastic! I've seen two squirrels so far and they are super cute. It's weird not having a car as most places can be walked to or cycled to. I'm a bit hesitant on getting a bike (I actually can't ride one, maybe I can get one with three wheels) but it'll make travelling much easier and quicker. We do our grocery shopping online and get it delivered.

I hope to get back on the blogging bandwagon soon or at least post up weekly updates for you to read. I'm going to try not to buy too much while I'm here so I'm not sure of what the content will be but we shall see!! Please tell me what you've been up to! How is Australia?!!?
