Invisible Hair Tie

The Invisibobble is a plastic cord-like hair tie. Unlike an elastic hair tie which can snap off, loose elasticity, and dent your hair, the Invisibobble is meant to be durable and kind to the hair. From their website, they claim the advantages of the Invisibobble are:
- Bring traceless
- Doesn't cause headaches
- Caring to the hair
- Wearable with all hair types
- Can be worn as a bracelet
I've been wearing these for a couple of weeks and I feel that I've experienced enough to give my reviews. I had high hopes for these to live up to their claims but I am left disappointed. Only after a day my first Invisibobble broke when putting my hair up in a high ponytail. I thought I was being too rough so I tried to be gentler for the remainder of the trail. I'll give my two cents on each of their claims below.
Being traceless - I believe this is true. After wearing this each day, I didn't notice any kinks or bends in my hair even when it was still damp. That's good!
Doesn't cause headaches - I did get headaches sometimes when using these. I am pretty sure it is due to the heaviness of my hair and not that the Invisibobble couldn't even out the pressure around the tie. When it's in a high pony, my head doesn't like it.
Caring to the hair - My hair didn't break when using this and since there was no metal joining bits, no hair was caught in the joint.
Wearable on all hair types - Not on my hair apparently. I don't know if it is too thick, heavy, slippery.. etc but the Invisibobble wasn't able to hold my hair up in a high pony tail. After an hour or so of working (I do a lot of walking around) I find that it would fall down a little and making the pony tail come loose. With a regular elastic tie, if that happens I would pull my hair so that the elastic gets closer to the scalp. However, when I try to do the same with the Invisibobbl, my hair gets caught in the spirals and I have to redo the pony tail. This may work better with people with shoulder length hair or thinner hair?
Wearing it as a bracelet - Not something I would consider.

Daily Katness
- Back to a new dancing term - man I've lost so much ability having two weeks off
- I'm pretty my knees are shattered after some intense dancing
- Crazy couple of days with my aunty slicing her finger and seeking medical help and picking up my parents form the airport and driving around all over the place
- I finally bought my cats some more food - we were rationing for a bit there haha
- Drove to school this morning - I don't know how people drive to work to the city every day
- I also finished Stasiland (a great book but so hard to read) now on to The Wrong Girl by Zoe Foster-Blake (great so far!)

This looks interesting! I'm not sure I'd like it though! It reminds me of a telephone cord lol. Recently I have been loving ribbon hair ties. They feel a lot more comfortable to me all day than regular hair ties, but they don't stop headaches for me either! But like you, I have lots of long hair so probably can't help the headaches! X

Good to know, thanks Bec!
DeleteThe ribbon hair ties totally don't stop my hair from sliding out of it, as I like high pony tails too! It's not super strong. I like the look of this, but don't quite so like that you can't just 'tighten' the pony tail by tugging.
ReplyDeleteThe only good thing I found for my hair in a high pony was pieces of elastic (like the ones for clothes) tied together and then into a circle. Kept my hair up all through dancing!
