Colourlicious Lips

Hello lovelies!!! I have yet to post this month as I kind of struggled to get motivated to do anything. I even slowed down on reading your posts! I'm on school holidays now so hopefully I can get my act together start posting again! Sometimes a break is good but it blogging was never far from my thoughts. I have a couple of new lipstick additions to share with you today. Some bright shades ready for Spring!

I was in Priceline a few weeks ago getting some new makeup for a dance competition when I noticed some new Covergirl Colourlicious lipsticks on display. At the time they were on sale for $10 (rrp $16.95) so I decided to pick up two of the 17 available shades (I think there's more variety in the USA).

The lipsticks come in brightly coloured metal-like packaging and the lipstick shade can be seen on the bottom part of the tube. Covergirl has released these new shades in four colour families - nudes, reds, pinks and plums - and the outer packaging reflects which colour family the shade belongs to. I picked out a pink called Delight Blush and a red called Succulent Cherry after all the shades in store. From memory, I think the shades may have slightly different finishes as well.
I have trouble finding bright-ish pinks that I like on my lips. Delight Blush doesn't look too bad in the photo above. It's a medium cool pink (although I have seen it look warm on others) with little gold shimmers. I didn't notice the shimmers until the lipstick started wearing away, I didn't like it though.
I really wanted to add a reddy-coral to my collection and Succulent Cherry was perfect for it. It is a creamy bright cherry red.
Overall, I have mixed feelings about these lipsticks. As you can see from the arm swatch above, the formula is very glossy and there is a nice colour payoff after a couple of swipes due to the creamy-gel formula. I found that Delight Blush didn't apply very nicely on my lips in terms of uniformity of colour. I could tell the colour settled into my lip lines and was not flattering. I might need to use a lip liner underneath this shade as it felt very slippery and it didn't last too long on my lips. Succulent Cherry performed much better in both application and longevity. It went on smoothly (but staying inside the lip lines can be tricky if not careful) and looks opaque in a glossy way. As the lipstick wore off, it left a lovely light stain to the lips which I also liked. I have a feeling that the bolder shades apply nicer than the lighter/nuder ones looking at swatches online. The lipsticks also have a slight vanilla scent which I didn't really notice. I think I will be reaching for Succulent Cherry a few times this spring!

Have you tried any Covergirl Colourlicious lipsticks?
