The Year That Was... 2016

As my Australian family, friends and readers prepare to welcome 2017, I try to look back to this year and to all of the crazy things that has happened. Thanks for sticking around this year!

The year started with me getting my fitness into gear - training to run 5km. I loved the achievement when I actually got there (in March) but I found running really boring. It was good while it lasted haha!

I also got my first tattoo! Of course it was of a cat!

Went to the Sydney Cat Cafe (Catmosphere) ... twice... in the same month!!
In April, I completed an intensive short course at TAFE in Make-up Application. The 'course' was four days long and I had to create looks for bridal, glamour, B&W photography and colour. I was so proud of myself and my skills of applying make-up on other people which I hadn't had much experience with prior to this.

Had my first visit to Bendigo this year. A loss of a close family member brings the extended family together.

I was a part of the performing arts showcase at my work (a high school) again. The theme this year was "Blast from the Past". I worked with the students and together, came up with choreography to two group dances, a trio, two solos and a finale scene with the whole company. The most intense few weeks leading up this night but it was so enjoyable and loved watching the students shine!
I participated in my first session of cat yoga (with my friend, Miss M) which led to me joining in aerial yoga. Omg, it is so good! If you want to try yoga but with a twist and challenge, you should give this a try. Thanks to the team at Body Classique for providing this great program!

Pokemon Go!... need I say more?

I got pink hair!
Some students stayed on to rehearse for a dance competition in August. They performed a jazz routine "Boogie Wonderland" and a lyrical routine "I'm In Here". They were awarded 4th and 5th place for their routines. I'm so proud of them!

Then... I had to leave my place of work. Man, I cried so much. I loved where I work - the teachers, the support staff and the amazing students.

September.... Moved to the UK!!! It was so sad leaving my family and friends. They're so far away now! And started work at two new schools. I was so nervous and having to learn so much again. It was such a crazy month. But I'm really enjoying my new work places. Of course, my cats had to come with us!
I've started learning beginners ballet. I've been a dancer for so long but never actually learnt ballet (since I was five).

Then I joined the circus! I've been learning aerial silks and a bit of trapeze. I cannot wait to get strong enough to perform a routine!

At the end of the year, we had some lovely visits from some of our Australian friends. It was good to catch up with them again.

I cannot believe how much has happened this year. I would love to hear about some of your exciting events from 2016! Onwards to 2017!
