Kat's Cambridge Catch Up #5
Let me tell you how happy I am that Spring and daylight savings has kicked in! The sun is out that little bit longer and it's slowly getting warmer as well! Lots has happened in March so keep on reading to see what I've been up to!
- Theme Days -
I love a reason to dress up especially at school! Earlier in the month was World Book Day and we (staff and students) were encouraged to dress up as book characters. I think the teachers really put in the effort! I wanted to go as so many characters but after a flop with getting the costume for my first choice, Daenerys Targaryen, I was able to get a Snow White costume in time for the occasion. I felt like the typical princess and the students loved it! Unfortunately, it wasn't very practical as I do a lot of carrying trays up and down stairs. At the end of the day I managed to break three mirrors!!! Oh, the irony!

Near the end of the month was Red Nose Day. We wore red and some of the staff got subjected to wet sponge attacks from the students to raise money for the cause. I busted out one of my favourite red lip combos - Rimmel Exaggerate Automatic Lip Liner in Red Diva and Napoleon Perdis Mattetastic Lipstick in Veronica.
- Shows -
One of my aerial friends performed in a small dance production so I went to support him. It was held in the theatre room of Queen's College which I hadn't been in before and the facilities looked really lovely. He did a great job in a contemporary piece and stomp piece. Watching him made me miss dancing and performing on stage.
Hubby and I were treated to see Aladdin the musical as Christmas presents from the BIL and his partner (thank you!). I love seeing musicals! This one was very well done from the choreography, costumes, lighting and songs. The genie was exceptional! The magic carpet ride scene was one I would not forget in a long time!
Miss K and I had a movie date to watch Beauty and the Beast at our local cinema. I highly recommend this! Emma Watson was really good in this although I kept thinking she was still the young Hermione that remember her being when I was younger! It has some funny parts, some teary parts and all round feel good at the end =)
British Science Week happened in March. I visited a small art exhibition called Creativity and Curiosity: Artists and Astronomers at Christ's College. And accompanied Yr 7s to a science lecture by Dr Peter Wothers at the Department of Chemistry. It was a bang!

- London Visits -
Went into London two weekends in a row (well three counting the one April!). The first time was to meet up with our friend Miss Bec at Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium. You can read about the whole trip here. We had so much fun!!!
The following Sunday was our trip to see Aladdin at Prince Edward Theatre. We took the tube to Leicester Square and with my terrible navigating skills we stubbled across Chinatown (to my excitement!) before finding a place to eat prior to the show. We found a cute little cafe near the theatre called Z Hotels Soho cafe. We enjoyed some yummy toasted sandwiches whilst watching a man trying to paint the outside window frames of the building across form us. Entertaining. After the show, I wanted to head back to Chinatown to purchase one of my favourite Chinese foods - baked goods! Always the same anywhere you go! My all time favourite are the pineapple buns. They bring back childhood memories of when Dad would bring some home once a week after his trip from the markets.
- Circus -
My life has almost been taken over by all things circus! Follow me on Instagram for all of my circus pics and vids!
Completed my first 4-week course in aerial straps with some success. There's a lot more work to go into it, namely just getting heaps strong! So I'm going to torture myself again and do a 6-week course after the school holidays. Yikes!
Tried to challenge myself with some scarier moves with the help of the lunge (harness) up on the high trapeze. Walked away with some symmetrical bruises on my arms (then added some more bruises from straps). I seriously looked like I was beaten... luckily my arms are mostly healed now.
Scroll for two vids and a photo!
Showtime! Cambridge Community Circus is having a show in May which I will be performing in!!!! I am super dooper excited! I've been working on my routine over the last couple of weeks with the help of my trapeze teacher, Will. Slowly getting there!!! I cannot wait to get all costumed, hair and makeup-upped!!!!
Some shameless promotion!

I've been thinking about switching up my blog lately as my love for all things beauty has subsided drastically. I still enjoy reading beauty blogs but now I don't have the urge to go out and buy the latest makeup trends. I also don't have the same deposable income as I had back home (and most of it is going to circus training lol). So moving away from beauty (but not totally excluded), I will continue posting about things I've been enjoying and doing, and places I've visited. Of course my cats will always make an appearance!!! Thank you for stickin' with me!
