Random Shopping | April Haul 2017
I enjoy shopping around for bargains, particularly when I don't have a lot of spend money on hand to get the essentials. Here's a few bits and pieces I picked up over the last couple of months.
Nivea Pure & Natural Regenerating Night Cream (£5.35, Superdrug)
I needed a new night cream after finishing my previous one. I've used a few from Nivea over the years with varying success but with the range on sale I'd thought to give one of their night creams a go. This one has a slightly thinner consistency (still creamy and not lotion-like) than the Sanctuary Spa one which I think is good for the warmer weather coming up. It soaks into my skin very quickly and has a pleasant fresh cucumber scent (I think).
Olay 2 in 1 Hydration + Purifying Cleansing Facewash (£2.99, Superdrug)
I haven't tried this one yet as there's still a bit left of my current face washes. I have two facial cleansers, one in the shower and one in the vanity cabinet so they usually get used up around the same time. Hopefully this will be good in the second cleanse step after removing my makeup with The Body Shop Cleansing Butter.
Garnier Summer Body Moisturising Lotion Deep (£5.29, Superdrug)
A couple of weeks ago, Cambridge had a week of super awesome sunshine! It felt like being back home in the Aussie spring (not quite hot enough for our summer though lol). But.... going to bare the legs was a daunting thought as they were very pasty and white! I browsed for ages in the fake tanning section trying to decide on what to get. I pickup a Rimmel one but saw this Garnier one on the way to counter and swapped it over as it was cheaper. Remember many years ago when Johnson's released the first gradual tanning lotion and everyone went crazy buying it and it sold out so quickly? Those were fun times back at the pharmacy. I love the apricot scent to this lotion and it gives a nice colour (not too orange) after 2-3 days of using it on my legs.
Nivea Sun Protect & Moisture Sun Lotion SPF 50+ (£7.99, Superdrug)
I had to get some sunblock to accompany those sunny days. I like that it has a high SPF and is non-greasy.
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Take The Heat Deep Hair Treatment (discontinued, Superdrug)
I needed some extra special care for my dry coloured ends. I was close to finishing my current Aussie treatment when I purchased this this version. This one was on sale and I think it was due to it being discontinued or not stocked at the store. I haven't used it yet but if it's similar to the last one (different version), it works really well when I leave it in my hair for 30 minutes but I have really dry and damaged hair.
Radox Muscle Soak (£1.99, Superdrug)
The extra circus training and added new acrobalance activities over the school holidays really pushed my body's ability to recover quickly. I really needed a bath and soak my muscles. It has a fresh scent and provides a small amount of bubbles.
Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Gel (£6.99, Superdrug)
I thought I would have finished my two bottles of Daiso puff and sponge cleanser that I brought over with me but one is still going strong so I haven't cracked this open yet. I hope it's good! I kind of want the RT brush cleansing tray as well.
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Moscow (£5.50, Boots)
I mentioned in my last catch up post that I'm performing in a show put on by my local circus group. Of course having a dancing background, I was already thinking about costume, hair and makeup. On the makeup front, I want to do a silver/blue smokey eye with silver glitter and dark blue lips. I looked around a few stores to see what was available for blue lips without breaking the bank. The NYX stand at Boots had some lovely colours and I decided to get one from the Soft Matte Lip Cream range. It is very comfortable on the lips, dries matte yet not concrete. I wish it was more opaque and it does have the tendency to separate in the cracks when I smile. It is not that long lasting but it will do the job for my makeup look for the performance.
Ooohhhh moody!
I stopped by T K Maxx one weekend afternoon as I've read on reddit that I could find some inexpensive activewear to add to my circus clothing rotation in particular, leggings. A secret... I also live in activewear when I'm not going places (lol!). They had some beautiful leggings on sale but they were mostly the slippery fabric and I wanted more of a cotton blend for more grip. I picked this pair of cute Roxy shorts for £10, it was a high waist band and sits nicely around the bum area. I got a light exercise jacket by Mondetta to wear during warm up as it's still pretty chilly indoors (£24). This is a long jacket with a fitted waist and flares out at the back which gives a nice shape when worn. I also needed a water bottle (New Balance, £3) to take with me instead of reusing a plastic bottle which is getting a bit old.
