FotD | Less is More Right?

Hello lovely readers! This week I've been trying to use less makeup on my face or 'lighter' products so I can give my skin some air. I'm not sure if it works like that but it's good to use some unloved products and try to cut down on my morning routine, which is good as I get up at reeeeeaaaaalllllly early for work.

The last couple of weeks I've been trying to get my skin in a better condition. I've switched up some products and added some steps and I think it's helping with the breakouts on my chin which happen to be oily AND flakey -weird. I'm happy at the progress so far and I think changing up my makeup routine is benefiting my skin too.

For my base makeup, I use Rimmel Match Perfection concealer in Natural Beige to conceal some spots on my chin and cover up some darkness under the eyes. This product is meant to be a concealer and highlighter but the shade I bought is a little darker yellow than my skin so I don't do any highlighting with it. Then when a little synthetic brush I buff in a little of Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream in Medium all over my face and then lightly set it with Maybelline Dream Matte powder in Beige.

I prime my eyes with Milani Eyeshadow Primer and wait for it to dry as I fill my eyebrows  with Maybelline EyeStudio Master Shape Brow Pencil. The brow pencil I'm using was from a while ago and I don't think you can purchase this formula anymore. My one is a waxy pencil whereas the one being sold now is an actual pencil. Once I finish this, I won't be purchasing the new one. Then I apply Maybelline Color Tattoo in the trusty shade Bad to the Bronze all over the lid and lower lash line and blended out the edges. If I have time, I would line the lash lines with Maybelline EyeStudio Lasting Drama Gel Pot Liner in Blackest Black and apply Maybelline Illegal Lengths Mascara in Waterproof Blackest Black. The gel liner has been unloved for many months and a little dry but I'm making it work to practise my winged eyeliner. The mascara is newly opened and bought on special. I don't like the brush but it builds length alright on my lashes. Not my favourite I've tried from the brand.

And finally, I finish off the look with some blush Mellow Mauve by ELF and Carmex lip treatment and Lanolips Lip Ointment in Rose (not pictured).

What is your makeup routine like lately?

  1. Haha! Love the faces you're pulling! The BB cream is amazing - I haven't used it for a while, but I think I might have to pull it out soon. Mine's pretty straight forward for work - primer, foundation, blush, liner, mascara, then top it off at the brows.
