Napoleon VIP Night | Camden

Curtesy to Camden Napoleon Makeovers

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mummies out there! I hope you all got spoilt and had a fun and relaxing day! Today, I will be telling you about my experience at my first Napoleon makeup VIP event night that was on Tuesday. I haven't explored much of Napoleon Perdis makeup mainly because I'm too shy to approach the stand alone counters in the shopping centres and the prices are usually far from my budget. However, I thought I would shout myself a night of makeup knowledge and goodies, so here it is!

The night welcomed the guests with nibblies, rolls and drinks and also goodie bags with some samples. The NP MUA for the night was Morgan Bridge and she did a makeup look on myself and another lady. As she demonstrated the application of the makeup, she also explained how to use it and the skin type that it would work for. Here is a break down of what she did on my face for creating a subtle makeup look.

The beautiful Morgan, NP MUA doing my makeup!

My work day makeup (including smokey eyes lol) were removed using the Marshmallow Foaming Makeup Remover and a makeup wipe (I think it was the Auto Pilot Lift Off wipes). Oh my goodness! The foam smelt soooo yummy! And it left my skin feeling clean and smooth.

For skincare, Morgan applied a small amount of the Auto Pilot Radiance-Boosting Mask and let it dry. This product works like a filler, smoothing and evening out the skin making it ready for makeup. This product is designed to be used as a mask (obviously) but Morgan and Candice (rep) says that they use it to add extra hydration to their skin and leaves it on.

Then my skin was primed with Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Skin Primer. This primer is filled with skin loving extracts that will tone down redness and hydrates the skin. I prefer the Auto Pilot Pore Minimizer & Mattifier for my T-zone. It definitely helps keep the oils bay.

Now on to makeup! Morgan concealed under my eyes first using the Mighty Concealer Pen in Cream Coffee and then highlighted the V under eye area with Pink Beige. Then for a light coverage, she used the Auto Pilot BBB Cream with SPF30 (not sure on the shade) with a foundation brush. This product is a combination of a HD foundation, an anti-aging moisturiser and a broad spectrum sunscreen. I wasn't too sure about this one when I first looked at myself in the mirror but I was happy with it by the end of the night. The base was set with Camera Finish powder which took away shine and added a bit more coverage.

I had a very simple eye look created for me. Morgan applied Mesmer Mascara on my lashes first. This mascara is meant to offer volume, length and curl! My lashes didn't look too bad for not being curled beforehand. The mascara did actually did some lifting to my straight, pointy-down lashes. I would definitely curl my lashes if I decided to use this at home. But if you already have awesome lashes, I think this would be a lovely addition to your collection!

My brows were slightly filled in with the Pale Rider Eyebrow Pencil. I love how it's retractable! Morgan said to fill the brows stroking against the natural direction of the hair growth to get a natural look. I have never heard of that before!

Then, the hardest part of my makeup routine - the eyeliner. I told Morgan that I have trouble creating the flick wing look due to my eye shape. She used the China Doll Gel Liner in Forbidden City which is a black with gold flecks through it and that doesn't look as harsh or bold on the lashline. The liner was applied with an angled brush and she created an awesome flick with it. I still haven't been able to do it!!!!! Arg! A tip that they mentioned where to pull from the brow instead of the side of the eye to do the shadow and liner.

To finish off my look, Morgan used the Cotton Butter Lip Balm (I can't remember the shade she used) on my lips and cheeks for a natural glow. Did you that the shades where named after people that work for Napoleon Perdis? Kris, Doreen and Sigrid. How awesome to have a product named after you!

Head over to Camden Napoleon Makeovers' Facebook page for the makeup done on the second model which was a more smokey look. She looked like a gorgeous mummy! Ditch the kids and go out on the town! I had a fantastic time at the event. As it was my first time attending one of these, I didn't know what to expect but everyone was friendly and I learnt a lot from Morgan and Candice. When the makeup looks were completed, we got to redeem the cost of the event ($70) on NP products and got personal consultations and recommendations from Morgan and Candice on the products.

Selfie time!

  2. Oh this sounds super fun! A very natural look! I've heard a lot about their auto pilot primer, does it roll off your face when you apply it? All my primers seem to roll into balls while I'm applying!

    1. I didn't notice any ball making when I use it and I don't think it happened during the night. Definitely grab some sample sachets of the primer to try. That's what I did and I liked the matte one better. Do you apply the primer with a brush too?
