FotD | Smokey Blue Eyes
I cannot believe that the year has almost come to an end!! It has been quite a year for me and I will share that in an upcoming post. When I was a younger adult, I would go out to celebrate New Years Eve either to the local events or into the city. Not many years have passed but I like to stay at home and probably end up falling asleep before the midnight fireworks! Here's a look I would do if I was to hit the town =P
Before I continue, the photo above is what I have to put up with when I do my makeup.
-.-' Luckily he's so cute!
I decided to try out the sticky tape method to help define the edge of the smokey eye so I took some tape, stuck them to my hand a couple of times before lining them up with the bottom lash line and the end of my brows. I primed my eyelids with Too Faced Shadow Insurance and used the lighter shades from the Napoleon Perdis Ultimate Nude Palette over the brow bone area. Then from the same palette, I used a midtone brown in my crease to help with future blending. On the mobile lid, I put Maybelline Color Tattoo in Barely Branded on the inner half and NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Purple on the outer half and blended the edges. I love the Maybelline Eyestudio Quad in Sapphire Siren for blue smokey eyeshadow looks. The colour placement on my lid basically followed the palette with the white shade on the inner third, then the teal blue followed by the deep blue on the outer corner and bringing it up into the crease. I define the outer corner even more with the black shade. Then I removed the sticky tape and lined my upper lashes with Face of Australia Liquid Eyeliner in Black and used Milani Liquif'Eye on my tightline. After face makeup, I added some brown and blue shadows to my lower lash line, curled my lashes and coated them in Maybelline The Falsies mascara. I later added some individual lashes from 1000 Hour to the outer lashes to add some more fullness as I couldn't be bothered to add full strip lashes that day.
For the face, I started with Laura Mercier Foundation Primer which followed by her Silk Creme Foundation with a sponge. I love the finish of this foundation on my skin, a great rediscovery! Then I did the brow thing with Australis Brow Kit. Extra bits that needed to be hidden on the face were covered with the trusty Napoleon Perdis Pro Palette Concealer and everything was set with Illamasqua Translucent Powder. I did some contouring and bronzing with the Ultimate Contour Palette from Napoleon Perdis and NYC Brownzure in Sunny, respectively, and added a natural blush with NYX Blush in Angel. I also love the highlighter from the Ultimate Contour Palette so I had to use it here on my cheekbones and temple. Then some Napoleon Perdis Mattetastic Lipstick in Sophia and finished with a few spritzes of Mary Kay Makeup Setting Spray.
The finished look!
What will you be doing for New Year's Eve?
xxx Kat
