NotD | Easy Festive Nails
Hi there everyone! I haven't done my nails a many months as they have been quite weak since I came back from my honeymoon in August. But now they are ready for some Christmas themed nails! I titled this as an easy design but for some, it might take a little practise. Here we go!
After umming and ahhing through Pinterest, I settled on a red base for my nails. I've been loving red lips lately so this will go quite well with my look.
Base: Essie First Base
Main colours: Revlon Parfumerie in China Flower, Maybelline Color Show in Porcelain Party and L'Oreal in Black Swan
Extra sparkle: Face of Australia Carnivale in Between the Flags and L'Oreal Top Coat Carat in Diamond Carat
Top Coat: Essie Good To Go
Tools: Flat liner brush and dotting tools
I have many red nail polishes to choose from but luckily I went with China Flower because I had forgotten how well it applies. The formula is a little more thin than a regular polish but the opacity is still there, so applying two thin coats is so easy without any dragging occurring. I'm not sure if it's the same across the board with the other shades in the range but I would love to try more.
I added a subtle red sparkle on my ring finger with Between the Flags, something different to having the usual gold glitter. It's also slightly textured too which is cool.
For the snowflakes, I didn't have a white (or any) striper so I used an old liner brush dipped in Porcelain Party and drew some asterisks on my thumb nails. Then dipping back into the white with a small dotting tool, I placed dots on the ends of the lines. With a slight larger dotting tool and the white polish, I created a reindeer by making a small oval for the head and connecting to the tip of the nail to make the body. I did smaller ovals for the ears and used the liner brush to lightly create some antlers. Once dry, I used a small dotting tool dipped in Black Swan to make little button nose. My left hand turned out pretty good but my right looks more like a cat with antlers. Oh well.
I finished off the look by adding some fine glitter on top of the snowflakes with Diamond Carat and applying a top coat to seal the design in. I hope you like it!
Tesla-bomb!
Have you done anything special on your nails for Christmas??
xxx Kat
