My First MAC Lipstick

Well... this post is pretty self explanatory! I know there's such a love and following of MAC cosmetics but I never really had the urge to explore the brand. I think it's the overwhelming amount of products and choices available that have stopped me from making purchases in this past. BUT, I decided it was time to try something from their cosmetics range!

I ended up going with a lipstick as I still have a heap of foundations to finish and I don't really need any more face products and eyeshadows. I went in with a favourite lipliner from Ulta3 (in Dusk) and wanted to see if they had a shade similar to it. The SA was super lovely and talked me through the different finishes and I was able to try some on. 

Mocha was the closest but not an exact match to the lipliner so it was the one I made the purchase on. Mocha comes in MAC's iconic sleek black tube with little flecks of shimmer in it and the logo printed on the outside in silver. 

Mocha has a satin finish on the lips which is in between matte and shiny with no shimmers. The website describes the shade to be a peachy yellow brown and it is a warm medium brown on my lips. I would have liked a little bit more pink in there but there wasn't a shade like that available (out of all the options, who would have guessed?? lol).

When applied on the lips, the formula is very smooth and creamy, and the colour quite opaque in two swipes. I like it gives a nourishing feeling to the lips even if it doesn't necessarily provide moisture (and I preferred it over the matte formula). It doesn't drag over the lips either. The product lasts about 3-4 hours with an even wear however, after eating or drinking, the product does wear away mostly from the centre areas the most. Luckily, this shade is quite forgiving and not too noticeable when it starts coming off. This satisfies my MAC cosmetics craving for now! I hope to get lots of wear out of Mocha!
