Waxaway Those Hairs
Hi there lovelies! My brows were in major need of grooming as they grew into two furry caterpillars! Since moving back to 'the Gong' I haven't yet gone out to find a local beautician and it's always hard to find someone to understand my brows (like my hair I suppose, but I found a lovely hairdresser). So I was on a mission to try waxing my eyebrows again and was hoping I wasn't going to mess them up!
I went to Priceline to buy my supplies. Waxaway had a Buy 1 Get 1 Free deal happening so I went with that brand. A long time ago, I used another brand but I wasn't impressed with its work (it was probably my technique). I purchased Waxaway Precision Wax Wand.
I decided to go with this particular one as the wax didn't need to be heated. Here are all the bits you get in the kit.
I decided to test out the product and refine my technique on my 'moustache' first. Sorry if the pictures are a bit eww. I had to twist the wand for what I felt like was forever before any product came out.
I have quite dark hairs on my upper lip but they are really fine. My first attempt was laughable. I used too much wax and I left the strip on my skin for a bit too long and the wax didn't grab. I found that I got the best results when I used a thinnish layer of wax applied in the direction of the hair growth and the fabric strip was rubbed over only a couple of times on the wax before ripping it off. I didn't feel too much pain with it. I had to go back in with tweezers to get to the tiny tiny hairs that the wax missed.
Now for the scary bit, my eyebrows! As I have thick eyebrows that are not even, hair needs to be removed above and below the brow so they don't sit too high. Firstly, I used a white eyeliner pencil to draw the shape of my eyebrows to use as a guide for the wax. Then I tidied up underneath my eyebrows by using the same method as I used for my lips (which was the easy bit). For the hair above my eyebrows, I took off the hairs bit by bit so I wouldn't remove all my eyebrow by mistake. Then I went in with the tweezers for those strange hairs. Finally, I used a brow comb to trim my long eyebrow hairs into a nice shape.
Tada! Half my makeup was also removed =(
My thoughts on the Waxaway Precision Wax Wand experience
- It was handy not needing to heat the wax
- A good amount of product was dispensed at each turn
- The tip got a bit messy with hairs getting stuck on it
- I developed a good technique quickly - although if I only tried it out on my eyebrows, I would use only a small section first
- I accidentally took a bit extra from one of my eyebrows - hopefully not too noticeable
- I was able to use both sides of the fabric strips - I wouldn't wash and reuse them as they would lose their rigidness and extra strips packs are available
- I didn't use the after care wipes or bump eraser, I used an oil based makeup remover to clean the wand and my skin of extra wax
I hope you enjoyed reading about my Waxaway experience and my end result =) You can learn more about their products on their website (here) and purchase them at Priceline (here), they still have the BOGOF offer (at time of writing).
Have you tried any at home waxing before?

Great post! This product seems pretty good - I've never tried at home waxing before. I like the sound of a wand though.

It does take a while to get use to! If I could be more bothered I would definitely get someone else to do it!
