Brush Cleaning Session

I finally got around to retaking the photos that I deleted two weeks ago! How annoying is that!? I'm sure I've written a post on brush cleaning already but it's always good to update. I'm very glad that I don't have an abundance of used brushes that I have to wash every few weeks as I like to stick with my favourite brushes.

Johnson's Baby Shampoo Plus Conditioner
One of my earlier products for brush cleaning. I think the first one I bought was an Elf one and it wasn't that memorable. The baby shampoo does a nice job at cleaning most of my brushes particularly those used for powdered products. The conditioning aspect helps keep the bristles soft. I do find that it doesn't get my synthetic foundation brushes (like the RT Expert Face brush and Sigma kabuki brushes) completely clean from built in foundations. Sometimes the brushes can take a bit longer to dry as well. In saying that, this is a very affordable product and it can be found in supermarkets and pharmacies.

Beautyblender Solid Cleanser
This is my most recent brush cleanser purchase. After a lot of thinking, I decided to splurge on this solid cleanser bar from the famous Beauty Blender brand mostly to clean my Beauty Blender as I was finding the Daiso one I had wasn't doing the best job. This bar can also be used to clean brushed as well. The bar comes in a little round container with a little grid inside to help with the deep cleaning process. I don't use the grid that often though. This is awesome for getting all of the foundation stains off the Beauty Blender which can be tough to clean anyway. I bought mine from Luxola and it retails for $28.92).

Daiso Detergent for Puff and Sponge
Such a cult favourite around the beauty community and it's also my favourite! For only $2.80 a bottle, it's an amazing brush cleaner from both natural and synthetic bristle brushes. This also gets all of the foundation stains out of my synthetic brushes but sometimes they need a couple of washes to get a complete clean. I love that when I use this cleanser, the majority of my brushes are dry the next day (some of my denser, fuller brushes may take two days) so I can get back to using them! I'm almost finished this bottle so I need to stock up again!!! I wish my closest Daiso wasn't in the city!!!
Another staple item during my brush cleaning process is the Benjabelle Sunflower Brush Tree. I bought mine from Lipstick Republic but I don't think they have this one in stock at the moment. I use to use the traditional rolled up towel on the bench top but with two crazy cats on the loose, I can't trust them with my defenceless brushes. The brush is great keeping my brushes together and drying them pointing downwards. I like the Sunflower design as it has three different sized sections to fit all my brushes in.

What do you use to deep clean your brushes?
