NotD | Flower Power!

Term 3 has started off with a smack-load of experiment orders - future ones and some that pop up during the day. They like to keep me on my toes, busy and out of trouble... browsing the web, chatting with the library ladies etc. Not that it happens often - much. Lucky, I'm just sooooooo efficient! =P

I'm sharing with you what's on my nails RIGHT now. A bit out of season but who cares? I watched Bubz's video on her nail art (here) last week and wanted to try it as soon as I could. The perfect timing came when Daniel wanted to watch three sports in one night (you know the football, cricket AND cycling). No tv for me, so I was banished to the makeup spare room to do my nails.

What I used:

  • Revlon Colorstay Base coat
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in White On
  • Rimmel Lasting Finish in Cranberry Zest
  • Maybelline Mini Color-rama in Urban Turquoise
  • Rimmel 60 Seconds in Coralicious
  • Essie mini in Very Strutured
  • Revlon in Sparkle
  • Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top coat
  • Bobby pins and a safety pin
That's a lot of nail polish!!!!

A quick overview of what I did:

After applying a base coat and letting it dry, I used a white, red and teal colour as that base colours. I did two light coats for each nail.

I used a glitter polish on top of the teal nail. Using the round end part of the bobby, I dipped it in some white polish and made a dot pattern on the red nail.

The most time consuming part was making the flowers. The first nail I tried to do it on, I stuffed up so much that I had to remove the polish and repaint everything. I used the end of the bobby pin again in red and orange and made five dots in a circle. Then I joined them in the centre to make a flower shape. Finally, I made a dot in the centre of each flower in white and made a tiny brown speck and stalks in brown polish using the end of a safety pin. Finish with a top coat and done! Clean up any mess with a cotton bud and remover.

The final look:

I really like how this turned out. It's very vibrant without being too in-your-face. All the ladies at work are very impressed! I've had this look on my nails for three days now and I am noticing some slight cracks in the polish which is not surprising for me. Time to do a new look soon!

Daily Katness

  • Did 5kms in under 40 mins this arvo - yes!
  • I think my eyelash curler chomped some of my lashes! I noticed a section of my lashes are shorter than the rest omg! No curling for a while.... and get a new curler.
  • I have so many events to go to in the next few weeks - 4 dinners, a picnic, bowling gee. So much for saving money.
  • I've been bad! I bought another Rimmel Apocalips on the weekend (last shift at the chemist). I did have a Priceline voucher and it was my last day, so there!
  • And I needed a lip balm yesterday when I got to school as my Baby Lips ran out! (Collecting empties for post!)
  • I'm in the process of doing a post dedicated to my time working at the pharmacy. So many photos to go through!
  • Moose is sleeping on my leg right now as I'm watching The Great Australian Bake Off - it's a pretty funny show.

See you next time!
