Melbourne Cup Hair & Nails

Hi everyone! Today was such a lovely day. Hot and sunny and then a nice, cool afternoon. I was meant to have this post up yesterday but it took me a long time to get home from work and I wasn't feeling up to it. Here is a post on how I wore my hair for the Melbourne Cup.

I saw this hairstyle on my FB feed last week and thought it would be easy and fun to do. I started with roughly curling my hair the night before to add a bit more volume. In the morning, I tried to tease the hair at the crown but I wasn't very successful. Then I separated my hair into 3 sections and tied them with little elastics but one broke -.-' Each strand was meant to be plaited and wrapped around itself creating a messy bun but mine didn't look very full. Instead I just twisted each section into a bun and pinned it in place.

You like my pictorial?

Add your hair piece! I got mine from a little stall outside my locals Woolies (major grocery store).

Nails

In this nail manicure I used Revlon Waterfall (light blue) and Radiant (blue glitter) and, Rimmel in Sky High (teal). Nice and simple.

Did you wear anything fun for race day??

xxx Kat

  • Daniel is at Kioloa tonight for his uni work. Home with the kitties tonight!
  • It took me 2.5hrs to and from work yesterday on the train when it usually takes 1.5hrs. Sooo long!
  • Finished Seven Ancient Wonders by Matthew Reilly. Quite a good read.

  2. Very nice Kat.
I love your hat too and as you said your hairstyle was easy to do but looked like you had it professionally done in that it would've been too difficult to do without help.
And did you pick the winner. I didn't place a bet much prefer a sweep...

    1. Thank you Ann! It was really easy to do, honestly!
Nah, I didn't do any betting. We had a sweep at work but I didn't do that either. haha
