NotD | Essie Jamaica Me Crazy

I picked up another Essie polish last week during Priceline's 40% off cosmetics sale (haul post here). After about 10 minutes of back and forth deliberating, I ended up with this gorgeous colour in Jamaica Me Crazy. Isn't the name just divine?

Jamaica Me Crazy is a delicious fushia with a blue-purple base although it shows up very pink in the photos. It also contains tiny purpley-pink glitters or sparkles that makes the polish shimmer.

Like other Essie polishes I own (only 6), this polish applies so easily and without streaking. It reached opacity with two coats and dried quite quickly for a 'regular' polish. Once dried, it didn't look as shimmery as it did in the bottle but with a good top coat, that was refreshed.

I was really disappointed to find that the tips of some of my nails began to chip or flake off the next day. If I picked at the polish, it came off easily. I wasn't sure if it was due to the new cuticle balm and I didn't wash it off properly or I made my coats too thin. So I repainted my nails without using the balm and used slightly thicker coats.

I am very happy with how the polish performed after I made the changes. It's a fresh, fun colour for spring yet not too bright and in your face. I don't own many polishes with a shimmer finish so this is a great addition to my collection.

Do you have a favourite or new Essie polish?

  1. The name of the polish is so cute! I find most Essie nail polishes to be quite good in lasting power but some are real let downs! I'm currently wearing Buy Me A Cameo and loving it!

    1. Luckily I haven't come across any bad eggs. There's always those in every brand I guess. I just looked up Buy Me A Cameo, what a cool shade!
