Christmas Time

Celebrating Christmas is a somewhat of a new thing for me as my family and I don't do anything special for Christmas except for the exchanging of money in lucky red envelops. It wasn't until I met my now fiance, more than 8 years ago (what!!?!!?), that I was able to experience what Christmas was really like. My first present giving and receiving, presents under the tree and eating Christmas lunch were amazing and each year I like to cherish those moments.

This was the first year we lived away from our parents so we decided to stay over Christmas Eve. We also took our cats, Zeus and Moose with us. Moose cried the whole way there and Zeus was fine. We put them in their new home and both of them immediately found the darkest, smallest space that they could hide in for most of their time there. One time, we though we had lost Moose but he was just very good at hiding.

For afternoon tea on Christmas Eve, we were spoilt by sugary treats home made by Daniel's parents. There were shortbreads, mini pavolas, brandy snaps and many more. The boys (Daniel, his brother, dad and papa) played snooker and cards to work off their food before dinner.

Christmas day came and of course, we started off with presents! We've been doing secret santa for a few years now as both myself and Daniel don't earn as much money as we use to and we have more expenses now. I got to buy for Daniel's brother and I got him a Ben Sherman t-shirt and a Dragonball Z dragonball (with Daniel's help). Daniel got me for the secret santa (lucky for him!). I got a phone armband, The Tournament by Matthew Reilly and Moose and Zeus cat statues hand painted by Daniel. I actually got teary when I saw these two because they were so funny but thoughtful as well haha! We had a small secret santa scare where we thought Daniel didn't get a secret santa present but they were just hidden with the presents from his parents, phew!

Daniel's parents also got us some other little things as well. I am always gifted with cat things - I am so easy to buy for! I received a how to draw cats book and some craft things. I haven't drawn cats since I was in high school. Here's one from back in the day (click here). And something I was really excited about when I saw it was the Rae Morris Express Makeup book! So spoilt! And the cat's got something too!

Hand-painted by Daniel. How I didn't know this was happening under my nose??

We had an amazing Christmas lunch. Unfortunately, Daniel's grandparents couldn't make it but we did visit them afterwards. The cats took a little while to coax them out of their hiding hole but I think they were eager to get home. Both Moose and Zeus were quiet all the way home. Moose was so exhausted from the trip that he quickly found a safe place to sleep it off - a big David Jones bag.

Time to take out the rubbish!
Oh, wait! There's a Moose in there!
Thank you to my '2nd' family for all my lovely gifts and for the wonderful we spent together! I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas break, got to spend some quality with family and friends and got spoilt with what you wished for!

xxx Kat
