My Faves in December

I don't really do many favourites posts as I always switch up products throughout the month or I just use products because I have to and not because I particularly like them. Strange?? However, the past couple of months I have been enjoying some old and new products. So, here are my favourite products for the end of 2013!

Garnier BB Cream for Oily/Combination skin in Medium
After loving the Maybelline Dream Pure BB cream, I was reluctant to try the Garnier equivalent as I disliked their original formulation. This claims to be an All-in-one product that will correct, protect, unify, hydrate and mattify the skin. I like how this product evens out and brightens my complexion. I really like how liquidy the formula is and a little goes a long way. Now that the days are warming up, I like to use more lightweight bases and I have reached for this product on many occasions for work and the weekends. I do find that the shade a bit dark for me but oh well...

Revlon Beyond Natural Blush & Bronzer in Peach (410)
Something I grabbed from a chemist bargain bin a few months ago. I had another shade from this range a very long time ago, probably back in my high school days at the chemist. I love the dual purpose of this product. The blush shade is a dusty peach with a tiny bits of gold shimmer scattered throughout and the bronzer is a lovely medium brown with some of the shimmer included but it is hardly noticed once applied on the skin. I usually swirl my brush around to pick up both products and apply it to my cheeks, unless I want to do some contouring. This product has medium pigmentation so I don't have to be too cautious on the application which is good for those busy mornings.

Urban Decay Naked 2 eyeshadow palette
I have reached for this palette almost everyday in the past few months. I love how pigmented and smooth these eyeshadows are which make them a breeze to apply. I've applied them with and without a base and they do last throughout the day on my oily eyelids. My most used shades from this palette lately are YDK, Suspect and Tease.
-As I typed this, I had the palette opened to check the names and Zeus saw his reflection in the mirror and had a mini freak out.-

Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner in Black
So I still suck at any sort of eyeliner especially wet formulas but I decided to give the Master Precise a go after reading lots of positive reviews and Priceline had their 40% off sale. I've only ever used one other felt tip line like this and it was a difficult experience. Luckily for me, this liquid liner is so easy to use! It glides over the lids with nice black intensity and it's pointy tip allows for some nice, thin lines. I have improved on lining above the lashline now but the wing stills needs improvement. Love this product, I wish I got my hands on it sooner!

Maybelline Baby Lips Color in Berry Crush
I'm trying to go through my stash of Baby Lips now. I disliked the one that was just finished (cannot remember the name right now but will be included in an empties post) and was hoping this one would be better. I'm so glad this one felt like using the original Baby Lips. It's really moisturising and makes the lips feel smooth. The tint gives the lips a healthy slight berry red colour which is really nice. This has been a staple in my handbag.

Maybelline Moisture Extreme Lipstick in Royal Red (E190)
The festive season sees the red lip products come out of their hiding. My favourite one is this oldie from Maybelline. This is a bright orange-y red creme shade. It is very moisturising and lasts a good while on the lips. Very Christmas appropriate! I'm pretty sure this is a discontinued product, although there's a lot of great bright reds out there!

Maybelline Color Show Sequins nail polish in Gold's Night Out (815)
This was a late addition to my polish collection, just in time for Christmas. This is my first glitter polish from the brand and I was very surprised that I liked it so much. This polish contains different sized gold glitters in a clear varnish. I could get nails covered covered by glitter with a couple of coats of this polish. -I'm now typing with one hand as Zeus decided to sit on my left arm and fell asleep (see photo at the bottom)- You can see how this polish performs on my nails in the nail posts here and here. This glitter polish was alright to remove too!

And some swatches for you!
1. Garnier BB cream | Revlon Blush & Bronzer together
2. UD eyeshadows in YDK, Suspect and Tease
3. Baby lips | Royal Red lipstick
I just noticed that this was a very Maybelline dominated post but I'm not sponsored by them or anyone (I wish), I just like a lot of their products!

What are your favourite products of this month/year?

xxx Kat

Bloopers -look at what I have to put up with!

What does this do?
Can I play with these?
I'm tired now!

  2. Great picks! I honestly would always have a neutral palette, tinted balm and black liner in any favorites list! I haven't got any of the Naked palettes yet but I really plan to get the Naked 2 and 3 next year! I also LOVE that lipbalm from maybelline, I bought it in Bangkok on holiday since you can't get it here!

    1. HI Bec, my Naked palette was from the BeautyBay website. My fiance bought it for me for my birthday last year I think. I just had a look on their website and I can't seem to find their 1 or 2 palettes just the Basics and Naked 3 ones. xx I'll leave a comment on your blog in case you don't check back to this one =)
