ModelCo Daily Face Sunscreen

Hi everyone! Summer has reached us here in Aus (although sometimes it doesn't feel like it) and that means to remember to slip slop slap! Of course, we should always wear sun protection when we're out and about.  In this post, I'll be sharing with you my thoughts on the ModelCo Daily Face Mattifying Sunscreen and Lipbalm SPF 50+ (phew.. that was a long name). Many facial sunscreens that I've tried were either too greasy, difficult to absorb or didn't work with my makeup. Because of this, I would rarely wear extra sunscreens on my face only what was included in moisturisers and foundations.

For those who haven't heard of this brand, ModelCo is an Australian brand that specialises in tanning products and cosmetics. They also do not test their products on animals. Their products can be purchased from over 800 Woolworths stores, Priceline and their online store. I purchased the Daily Face Sunscreen from Priceline when they had an introductory offer a couple of months ago. I needed a new sunscreen with the new SPF 50+ instead of 30+ and wanted to try something new for my face.

This sunscreen is tinted so it will give your face some colour but little coverage. Initially, I found that it was too dark for me but after a while I got used to it, maybe my face got darker? I like how it applies to the skin. It is very smooth and blends easily. This is an oil-free product and should suit all skin types which is great news for everyone. I have oily skin and I haven't noticed it causing me to break out or get clogged skin. This product provides excellent SPF and I like to mix it with my daily moisturiser (Olay). I was going to include a before and after photo of my face with this product but (1) I don't like the way I look in the photos and (2) I took the photos so long ago that I can't tell when the product is on my face haha!

There are some little things I don't like about this product. Firstly, the nozzle. It cannot control how much (usually too much) product comes out of the tube. I don't like how it has a twist off cap which also led to product leaking out before I could cap it. I would rather the lip balm to be removed and a flip cap in its place. Speaking of the lip balm, it's hard to use with my long nails so I don't really use it or the mirror. On the product side, the brand says that it's mattifying but it also gives you a radiant skin. I'm a little confused by that. Anyway, when this is on my skin it doesn't make it matte, instead my skin is only a little less shiny.

Oh hello! I think I have the sunscreen on here.....

Besides all those little stupid things, this has been the best face sunscreen I have tried. Depending on how I'm feeling, I either mix it with a moisturiser or apply it after. And I always apply it down my neck too.

I bought the ModelCo Daily Face Sunscreen + Lip Balm at Priceline - regular sale price is $24.99 but they have a promotion right now (until 24th Dec) for $19.99 (buy here).

Have you tried this product? What other sunscreens for the face would you recommend for oily skin?

xxx Kat
