NotD | Bright Pink Braid
I am enjoying challenging myself at DIY nail designs at the moment. I came across this lovely braid design a couple of months ago when searching for designs from MissJenFABULOUS (YouTube). The design I decided to follow was from this video by Cajanails. I think it's very girly and trendy. It's subtle enough that it took a few days for the ladies at work to notice. It was very easy to do. The downside was the waiting for the polish to dry a little before continuing. Lucky I did it on the weekend when The Block finale was on, so I didn't notice it. Hope you like it!
What I used
- Revlon Colorstay base coat
- OPI Kiss Me on my Tulips (cutest name!)
- Manicare Glamnails Paint It Black
- Rimmel Your Majesty
- Sally Hansen Insta-Dri
After taking off my Galaxy nails (blog post here) by doing this to remove the stubborn glitter,
I applied a base coat and then a layer of pink to all my nails.
The thumb and ring finger will be my accent nails. After letting the pink polish dry, I paint a black diagonal strip starting from the cuticle. It doesn't matter how thick the diagonal as you are able to cover the bottom part of it with another polish. I let the black get tacky and painted a silver strip crossing over the first. Next, I used the pink under the black and crossing over the silver. At this point, depending on where you start, the thickness of the black can be controlled. I continued the criss-cross painting alternating the colours until I got to the end of the nail. Then I finished with a top coat.
The Finished Look
I love this look sooooo much!!!!! I'm so sad that I have to take it off after I finish this post to do a different nail look. I hope you like it!
