The Balm Goodies

I heard about David Jones Beauty Book sale from a blog that I subscribed to so I decided to check out their online catalogue just for kicks. For the international readers, David Jones is a department store in Aus land which stocks mostly highly end/priced brands such as Clinque, Elizabeth Arden and Clarins. I wasn't expecting to find anything as I don't really buy things from there. There are so many great GWP for a lot of the brands that they stocked (out of my price range!!). I was so excited to find a great deal from The Balm which was spend $27.95 or more and you get a Shady Lady eyeshadow palette. What a deal!!!

I went over to my local David Jones at the start of the week to suss out the deal. I had a choice from two versions of the palette, Vol 2 and Vol 3. It took me more time to pick one!! To qualify for this gift I had to spend the required amount. I really wanted an Instain Blush but they were $26.95! Arg. The only other thing I had been eyeing for a while was the Time Balm face primer. So I got that instead. Very happy with my purchase!! Here's a close look at the products.

The Balm Time Balm face primer is a silicone based formula that is 'fortified with vitamins A, C and E, allantoin and bioflavonoids'. Once applied on the skin, it leaves a smooth surface ready for foundation or another base. I have used this a few times already and I find that it leaves my skin nice and smooth. It helps my foundation go on evenly but I'm not sure if it's different to how it goes on normally as I do my makeup before the sun rises. I also use this on my eyelids before putting on my eye makeup.

Moose photobombing.

I was extremely excited to get my hands on The Balm Shady Lady Vol 2 eyeshadow/eyeliner palette. I really didn't know how I decided on this one but the Vol 3 version had some more lighter shades I think. This palette comes with 9 good sized shadows and a big mirror. All the shadows have very funny names to match the theme of the palette. Makes makeup fun!

In the swatches above, I used two swipes to get the colour to appear like that. The shadows feel silky and applies on to the skin with no effort. I haven't used them on my eyes yet as I've been waiting to take photos of the products unused. All but two are shimmery/frosty. Caught in the act Courtney and Feisty Felicia have a matte base with some small glitter particles. Some of the more colourful shades will be great for spring! And perhaps for a wedding makeup look (yes?). I cannot wait to get more use of these products!

While I was in DJs, I also got their Beauty Deluxe Sampler Tote for $19.95 (with any full priced beauty purchased). I don't subscribe to those beauty boxes but I love to try samples of products I don't normally use or cannot afford. In my sampler tote were:
- David Jones Beauty Natural Regeneration Day Cream
- David Jones Beauty Deeply Purify Facial Cleanser
- Sk-II Facial Treatment Essence
- Molton Brown Toko Yuzu Bath & Shower Gel
- Elixia Firming Toning Body Lotion
- Roger & Gallet Soap
- OPI Nail Lacquer (pink)
Plus (from two choices)
- L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream
- Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter (Cherry Tart)
- Bastiste Dry Shampoo
- Burt's Bees Intense Hydration Cream Cleanser

  1. I didn't think of picking up the primer but it sounds like a good choice! I was interested in the new staining blushes too, except for the fact they were $1 short of the minimum spend :p

    1. I know, so annoying! Those blushes look so nice! The primer feels really nice but doesn't help much with oil control. :S
