Kissable Lips
This post is a little out of season as it is about getting soft, luscious lips. But hey, I think having presentable lips makes your look healthier (chapped lips anyone?) and also makes lip products go on nicely. I've gathered some products to share with you, that have saved my lips through the winter dryness. Let's get moisturised! (Btw, how lame is my photo haha!)
Lush Mint Julips Lip Scrub
This is my third jar of this stuff which shows how much I adore this product. I do go through it slowly though. I mostly use this scrub when my lips are particularly flaky/crusty/generally not smooth, after I brush my teeth in the morning. I place a small amount of scrub around my lips and rub gently in circular motions. You can lick the scrub off as it contains sugar and oils but I get put off by the idea of getting a mouthful of dead lip cells so I just rinse it off with water. I love the minty-ness and the tingly feeling left on my lips. I immediately follow this with a balm. Lush also have a bubblegum flavoured scrub too. I should try to make my own lip scrub eh?

Blistex Lip Conditioner
I tend to use balms in jars at bed time as I find they work better when I'm not causing the products to wear off (e.g. talking, drinking, eating, general lip licking). I mean the ones in the sticks would probably still work well too. Anyways, back to the Blistex. It's a clear balm with a petroleum jelly feeling when you put it on your lips. It's smooth, slick and slippery. My lips feel hydrated when I wake up in the morning. I've also used this during the day. It contains SPF 15 which is a plus but don't like sticking dirty fingers in the jar. I tend to switch balm jars/thicker balms when I use one up. I have Carmex in line next and then probably Lucus Paw Paw Ointment or Lanolips (but sooo $$$).

Nivea Essential Care Lip
I bought this one when I ran out of my Baby Lips at work and had to run to the chemist in the morning to get something to hydrate my lips. I've used so many Nivea lip balms and haven't been too impressed. A friend of mine used this one when we worked at Priceline together and they liked it. I've used this every day for a couple of months now. It goes on smoothly but has bit more slickness then I would like. It feels like it hydrates almost straightaway and leaves the lips looking glossy. It's also colour, fragrance and flavour free.

Maybelline Baby Lips SPF 20
When these hit the shelves at Priceline, I snapped up a couple immediately. These lip balms are my all time favourite for on the go lip rehydration. I'll open this one after I finish the Nivea one. There's six flavours/smells available - Antioxidant Berry, Cherry Velvet, Energising Orange, Mango Pie, Relieving Menthol and Smoothing Cherry. I've tried all but the cherry ones as I don't like cherry flavour (reminds me of children's medicine, yuck). The clear balm goes on smoothly and leaves my lips soft and hydrated. It contains shea butter, Centella and Vitamin Complex which works to plump, protect and repair your lips. There's SPF 20 which is a plus too. If yo haven't tried these, you must go NOW! I have two tubes as backups already. Baby Lips also have a Loves Colour range which are tinted balms. Lovely colours but I don't find they are as moisturising as the originals.

Arg, you can't even tell I've got balm on!
And lastly, probably the best thing/advice for really nice lips is to drink pretty of water!!!
What are you favourite lip balms?
Any recommendations for me to try?

Great tips! My lips have been getting quite chappy since the weather is cooling down, I've almost used up an entire pot of Vaseline on my lips!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I remember using the good ol' Vaselin. Definitely try some lip products with some nice oils/butters in it for extra moisture!
