My Faves in August

I'm pretty excited as this is my first 'favourites posts'. I love reading these kinds of posts from other bloggers as I'm always interested in new products to try. I probably won't do monthly favourites but maybe every other month if I remember. So let's get started with what I was loving last month!

Essence; Real Techniques; Redken

Essence Gel-Look Top Coat
I love the Shellac and gel polish look on the nails that makes them look like they're acrylic but not as damaging. This top coat was very affordable ($2.95) so I picked it up as soon as I saw it. It doesn't give a true gel like appearance but when I apply Sally Hansen's InstaDry, it makes the base colour look thicker. I've been enjoying the feeling it leaves the polish on the nails. I find that the polish stays chip-free for a few days longer than normal but I still get micro cracks on some nails.

Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman Blush Brush
The only RT brush I own which I bought from Priceline when they were released in Austalia. A bit expensive for me to buy any more from there. I love this brush mainly for contouring as well as applying blush colour lightly. The bristles are really soft and don't shed after being washed. This brush is the only one I own with this particular shape - kind of like an egg which is perfect for what I use it for.

Redken All Soft Argan-6 Oil
I read an empties post by Sarah from More Than Adored which she used a sample of this product and raved about it (obviously). I had been enjoying my Macadamia Natural Oil Healing Oil Treatment for a couple of months so I didn't really need to go out and get a new hair oil. Sarah mentioned that the Argan-6 Oil was a light consistency oil which absorbs into the hair very quickly. How true that was!! It's much thinner than the Macadamia Oil and I actually use less on my hair. It smooths, shines and silkifies (made that word up) my hair especially after blowdrying and styling. Great stuff!

Rimmel; Maybelling BB cream; Maybelline blush

Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss in 103
I received this in the mail after winning a Facebook competition. I've used a few matte lipsticks from Revlon and they dry out my lips a lot. I was extremely wowed by this product after my first application. It goes on smoothly and leaves almost a velvety feeling on the lips, not that dry, flaky appearance from other matte lipsticks. The colour is also very suitable for work.

Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream in Medium
I bought this when Priceline had their 50% off Maybelline products a few weeks ago. Why had I not snatched this earlier as the blogging community have been raving about this for such a long time. I'm loving this for a fuss free base application. It glides on smoothly and leaves the skin feeling like skin. During the work week, I put a light layer of this before I put on Rimmel Stay Matte foundation or Revlon New Complexion Oil Control foundation for a fuller coverage. Love this!

Maybelline Fit Me! Blush in Light Medium
I purchased a couple of these blushes when they were released and remember not liking them at all. They were (and still are) quite sheer and shimmery. However, I've been gravitating towards these blushes in the mornings as I can apply them without worrying about overdoing it. I like the glow it gives with a little flush of colour. And now, I've hit pan. Never thought I would do that!

Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte (103); Maybelling Fit Me! Blush (Light Rose); Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream (Medium) slightly blended

It's a small favourites post for last month. Short and sweet. I would love to read yours =)

  1. I saw the new maybelline bb cream a while ago, but I wasn't sure about it, what is the difference between the new one and the old one? X

    1. HI! I haven't used the other one (pink tube I believe) but from other reviews it's geared towards normal skin and the one I have is for oily/combo skin and has a different finish when applied. Thanks for commenting!
